stressed woman

The elbowroom clinic stress clinic offers a comprehensive diagnostic and stress management service. Chose from our BASIC or PLUS package to get a clinical diagnosis of your current stress. This programme runs in conjunction with our partner in the UK, a global leader in functional laboratory testing. Once we have your results, together we can action a plan for change.

Stress is an everyday part of being alive.  However when it reaches a certain level it can begin to have a detrimental effect on our ability to enjoy full health.  There comes a point when, either due to its intensity or duration, stress can begin to take its toll on the functioning of the adrenal glands.

The hormones produced by the adrenal glands are central to numerous functions in the body. When the adrenal glands become fatigued many seemingly unrelated symptoms can begin to present.

How do you know if stress has taken over your life?

Do any of these seem familiar to you?

  • You feel tired when you wake up in the morning – even if you’ve supposedly had a good night’s sleep
  • You can’t stay awake in the evenings
  • You have trouble falling asleep and/or staying

Relieving Back Pain with Osteopathy

back pain neck pain

Elbowroom Osteopath Jonathan Wills discusses the benefits of osteopathic treatments for chronic back pain in his talk on Saturday 14th April at 12 noon in the elbowroom. Here he gives a brief introduction to osteopathy and some tips on how to avoid back pain in our daily lives.

So what is Osteopathy?

Osteopaths work with their hands using a wide variety of treatment techniques. They take a whole body approach and will assess joints surrounding your pain as well as the area of the pain, which allows for a much more comprehensive diagnosis. Techniques include soft tissue massage or muscle energy techniques to release muscle tension, mobilisation or manipulation of the joints to improve mobility and restore joint range of motion.
Osteopaths are primary care practitioners which means they are trained to assess and diagnose each individual case and if the patient needs a procedure or treatment aside from osteopathy then they will recognise this and refer you to the appropriate medical professional.

How Does Osteopathy Treat Back Pain?

Using their hands, osteopaths examine the back and other parts of the body to identify sources of pain and restricted movement that may indicate injury or impaired function. Then a thorough … Read More

Benefits of Osteopathy during Pregnancy: FREE talk March 10th

preggy-belly

During pregnancy enormous physical, chemical and emotional changes take place over a relatively short period of time. The body has to get used to carrying up to 20lb/10kg of baby, waters and placenta, which can impose great physical strain on the organs, tissues, joints and ligaments of the body. In order for the pregnant body to adapt to all these changes it has to find new ways to walk, sit and sleep resulting with new aches and pains arising.

Any mother with an existing back problem, or a history of strains or imbalances in her body from past accidents, may find it difficult to accommodate these changes, and she may suffer more discomfort as a result.

The elbowroom Osteopath Jonathan Wills will be discussing the benefits of osteopathy in the elbowroom on Sat March 10th after Prenatal Yoga class and will be happy to answer any questions or queries you may have. Jonathan will give some top tips to relieve back pain in pregnancy, discussing areas such as exercise, sleeping positions and posture.
