If you are a new mum or even if its your second, third… time around – Congratulations.
We know how you are feeling. Many of our practitioners are mothers themselves. We offer a full range of services to assist your recovery back to feeling normal again.
We can even arrange a baby sitter to mind your little ones whilst we look after you.
We are leaders in the field of practical solutions for:
We can look after any lingering back pain, help you recover from a c-section, get those tummy muscles back together and improve your pelvic floor tone. Many problems linger after your 6 or 10 week check up and we feel the health service often lets mothers down who experience continuing problems.
If you have immediate problems with healing tissues post birth, feeling very down or weepy, lacking confidence or experiencing breastfeeding issues our team of mothers, doulas and midwives are here to help.
Even if your babies are now grown up you still might need a helping hand to deal with some of those lingering problems. Many of us may still experience back pain, or have one of those wobbly mummy tummies. Many mothers we meet have very poor pelvic floor control (leaks when sneezing or expressing yourself on a trampoline). We have a fully qualified women’s health specialist to deal with all of these issues.
Our expert services includes, Physiotherapy, Osteopathy, Midwifery, Doulas, Massage therapy, Homeopathy.
Physiotherapy – Is one of the best ways of helping to restore your body back to something like its former self. If you notice the bulging tummy does not seem to go back or that you have what looks like two horns hanging down when you bend forward – you may have separated rectus muscles. Here at The elbowroom clinic we specialise in the restoration of your abdominal muscles.
If you find you are leaking when you sneeze, cough, laugh to much or trampoline (as if!) you may be one of the one in three women with pelvic floor problems. Our women’s health specialist will accurately diagnose which muscles are defective and design a tailored exercise program for you.
Finally, are you feeling aches and pains in your neck, shoulders, back or pelvis? It is extremely common after pregnancy and birth for any old injuries to be compounded and for new ones to develop – our physiotherapist works through manual therapy, and acupuncture where necessary, to kneed, stretch and relax those tired and tight muscles. She will also help design an exercise plan for helping with other more serious complaints like sciatica and pelvic problems.
Osteopathy – After giving birth, your body not only has to recover from the changes it made during pregnancy but also from the effects of delivery.
Unresolved childbirth stresses can contribute to ongoing back problems, period problems, stress incontinence, general fatigue, constipation, headaches and more. If you have had a c-section, we can help restore normal function of your abdomen, reduce scar and help reduce adhesions between the layers of tissue.
Osteopathic treatment can help you to return to normal, physically and emotionally, after birth by releasing strains from both pregnancy and labour. This allows you to relax and enjoy your new baby.
Midwifery & Doulas – Our birth, mother and baby specialists are on hand to help with those many problems that occur postnatally. We can help with feeding issues, help promote healing after birth injuries or surgery.
Rest assured we have helped new mothers deal with many issues from haemarroids, baby blues and depression or just feelings of being overwhelmed. We have plenty of tissues.
Homeopathy - helps to heal after interventions or stitches or just after a long and painful delivery. It can also help to heal the emotional distress that can follow even the happiest birth experience. Post natal depression, problems with bonding or making the transition into motherhood can all be helped.
Safe remedies are used successfully to help breastfeeding problems such as mastitis, cracked nipples, milk supply etc and can help a restless ‘fussy baby’ to relax and latch on.
