Dear Lisa,
We are writing to sincerely thank you for all your wonderful help as a “Doula”
during the birth of our first baby Georgie.
From the moment the labour pains began you were there for both Marc and I
in every way. As we were hoping to have a home birth your guidance and reassurance
was invaluable, and you helped to diminish any fears or insecurities that
arose during my long pre- labour stage. Without your use of massage, homoeopathic
remedies and knowledge of positions to ease my discomfort, I am certain that
the experience would have been a very different one.
My pre-labour lasted nearly 3.5 days and when eventually I had to transfer
to Hospital, your support was amazing as I have a huge fear of hospitals and
you really helped to calm me i.e. explaining what was going on at all times
with hospital equipment, helping me into positions that were comfortable and
continued assistance with breathing. I was with the domino scheme of midwives,
and as my labour went on so long I was working with three different midwives,
so on a psychological level it was really important to me that you (the doula)
were with Marc and I throughout the entire birth. Because you never left my
side I felt safe throughout and confident that everything would be all right
and free to concentrate my efforts on labour itself. I had a natural birth
with some oxytocin and gas and air.
Georgie weighed in at 9.5 pounds and your post-partum care for both of us
was equally amazing, helping us with the initial feeding and mixing up herbal
remedies for sitz baths. Thank you so much Lisa for making one of the most
amazing experiences of our lives such a smooth and memorable one and by helping
to allay any fears that I had of hospitals, through your extensive knowledge
and by just being there.
Anne and Marc x
