Breech Babies
Babies start to migrate head down from about the 28th week of pregnancy. Sometimes they just don’t do what you like and stay with their head up towards you or lie across your belly.
If your baby is still not head down by about week 34, or is lying with their back towards your back (occiput posterior) there are clinical trials that have shown the following to increase the chances of your baby turning and then staying put. These include:
- Acupuncture and moxibustion (application of special heat sticks) for pregnancy can be used to help turn a baby from 34 weeks until your due date. At The elbowroom clinic we can provide this specialist treatment and show you how to continue the treatment at home.
- Osteopathy to check the alignment of your pelvis. A misaligned pelvis may change the shape of your uterus making the bottom of your womb an unfavourable shape for your baby. In addition the pelvis with poor alignment may prove a difficult path for your baby to negotiate when moving head down or during birth.
- Reflexology has been shown to be useful in helping turn and correct the position of a baby.
There are many other things you can do. At the clinic we can advise you on the best course of action for you.
