Part IV - Empowering birth through yoga
Yoga can make a huge difference with those looking for a more positive birth
experience. Building a strong and flexible body allows a woman to feel more
positive about her abilities to give birth. Allowing breath to flow and trusting
in the instinctive nature of birth is great preparation in pregnancy.
Given the freedom to move, breath, make sound and express her wishes, a birthing
mother will be more empowered to believe in her own innate abilities to give
birth.
This module will look at the specific benefits of yoga for those wishing for
as natural birth as possible, remaining active and mobile. It will teach you
how to encourage a mother to believe in herself and trust her body.
This module includes:

Approaching the 6 weeks prior to birth

Part V - Partner workshops teacher training
The support a woman gets during birth makes all the difference. During
labour a women is often spaced out and feels vulnerable. Having effective
support allows a woman to feel protected and nurtured. In reality, unless
someone has been present at several births, being faced with supporting
a birthing mother can be very daunting. Fathers especially feel vulnerable
and like a fish out of water. How they react can have huge effects on the
birth process.
This workshop will look in detail at a birthing woman's needs, how she behaves
and how best to support her during this time. Learning to teach this workshop
will benefit mothers who are looking to have a natural birth by empowering
their partners to believe in them.
The great thing about yoga is that it builds on existing instincts, but
you don’t want a labouring woman to think too much about techniques
or positions during birth. You want her to space out and for her partner
to take control. This workshop will teach you how to pass on that information.
This module includes:

The stages of labour and how to identify them
Support measures for each stage of labour
