WHAT IS ACUPUNCTURE?
Acupuncture is an ancient healing art that originates in China. There are ancient Chinese texts written over 2000 years ago which describes a system of diagnosis and treatment which correlate with modern acupuncture texts. It is therefore a well established system that has preventative medicine at its heart.
WHAT THE SCIENCE SAYS
The W.H.O. World Health Organisation has reviewed the research carried out and issued a list of conditions that have shown benefit from Acupuncture Treatment some of which are listed below.
Pain, Back pain, sciatica, fertility and gynaecology, headache, arthritis, addiction, nausea, induction of labour, breech presentation, digestive issues, insomnia.
Acupuncture is not only excellent for the treatment of conditions but is also a very effective preventative medicine tool which can be used when one is well to manage stress and to maintain health.
WHAT HAPPENS during MY FIRST VISIT?
Acupuncture Consultation
Your first session with Sam will involve a thorough consultation process where she will ask you questions about symptoms, lifestyle, digestion, sleep, emotions and more.
She will read your pulse and view your tongue to help with her diagnosis. From this she will create a treatment plan and discuss lifestyle choices so you can contribute to the healing process and start to improve your own quality of life immediately.
Sam likes to treat the whole person, physically, mentally and emotionally. Her treatments are very effective for a wide range of conditions, from anxiety and depression to skin conditions or auto-immune diseases.
Treatment
A treatment with acupuncture involves the insertion of very thin, steralised, single use needles into certain points of the body. Acupuncture does not hurt and is very relaxing. An average of 12 to 14 needles are used during a treatment. Needles are left in place for 30-35 minutes. A full consultation with Sam lasts 45 minutes to one hour.
