If you are looking for Pilates classes in Dublin, this foundation course will bring you through all the basics needed to get a solid foundation for your Pilates classes. From engaging your core, getting a great neutral curve in your spine to using your breath effectively.

Open to complete beginners, this course is your starting point before trying any of the drop-in Pilates classes. The course will bring you through all the fundamental elements of the Pilates method. Start to tone and strengthen your body today.

Benefits of Pilates

Improved Posture

Do not underestimate the benefits of good posture. Poor posture can often be a bad habit that is easy to correct. Bad posture can be the first step towards widow’s hump, double chin, potbelly, and sway back and if someone is not standing straight or hunched over they can look a lot older than they actually are. Good posture can make you look younger, slimmer and can convey great self-confidence.

Improved strength

Building toned muscles create strength to work perfectly within the context of the body as a whole. As a result of the sequences using several repetitions, your body is learning to endure exercise for longer periods each time, which improves stamina and strength.

Well-toned muscles

Pilates gives the appearance of long lean muscles. Traditional workouts with weights tend to build short, bulky muscles. Pilates elongates and strengthens, improving muscle elasticity and joint mobility.

Strengthens the core and promotes a strong and healthy back

The core muscles of the body are the deep muscles of the back, abdomen, and pelvic floor. These are the muscles we rely on to support our backs, give great posture, and efficient movement patterns. When the core is strong, the frame of the body is supported.

Promotes mind and body connection

Pilates connects the mind to the body, by encouraging concentration on each move and breath. Only when this is achieved will correct movement with proper alignment be possible.

Lisa opened The elbowroom in February 2003. Mother to Tuilelaith and Sean, director of The elbowroom and with a crew of over 60 staff, she is a busy bee. Lisa leads a team committed to bringing health and vitality to all of her clients. Lisa currently teaches in our yoga training programs and oversees pregnancy yoga and mum & baby yoga. Lisa works hard developing healthy food choices for Yin & Tonic @ The elbowroom. She specialises paediatric and pregnancy with workshops, yoga therapy, and craniosacral therapy.
