Q&A with 300-Hour Graduate Indre Galeckiene: “The Personal Growth Was Even More Transformative”

Many yoga teachers come to a 300-hour advanced teacher training expecting to learn more complex sequencing, challenging postures, and refined teaching techniques.
While all of that is certainly part of the journey, those who complete our 300-Hour Advanced Yoga Teacher Training often leave with something much deeper.
We caught up with graduate Indre Galeckiene to hear about her experience, what surprised her most, and how the training has shaped both her teaching and her life.
What surprised you most about the 300-hour training? What did you expect… and what actually happened?
Indre:
“I expected to learn more advanced poses and sequencing techniques.
What actually surprised me was how much of the training focused on self-study, philosophy, mindfulness, and understanding the deeper purpose of yoga. The physical practice was important, but the personal growth was even more transformative.
It became much more of a personal journey than I had anticipated.”
Can you remember a moment when something just clicked?
Indre:
“One moment that has stayed with me was realizing that yoga isn’t about achieving the ‘perfect’ pose. It’s about creating an experience where every student feels safe, supported, and connected to themselves.”
Has the way you teach changed since graduating? What’s one thing you do now that you never would have done before?
Indre:
“Absolutely.
I now spend much more time observing and listening to my students rather than focusing on delivering the ‘perfect’ sequence.
Before the training, I often felt like I needed to have all the answers.
I’ve also stopped trying to prove anything to myself or to anyone else. I know my purpose, I know why I teach, and I’m confident in the path I’ve chosen.
That shift has made me a calmer, more authentic teacher.”
What’s something people assume about advanced teacher training that isn’t actually true?
Indre:
“A common myth is that you need to be able to do advanced poses to get the most out of a 300-hour training.
The truth is, it’s much more about deepening your understanding of yoga, becoming a better teacher, and getting to know yourself than it is about mastering difficult postures.
Give yourself time and space to enjoy the journey. The training unfolds differently for everyone, and you never know what it will spark or how it will show up for you. That’s the beauty of it.”
If you could go back and give yourself one piece of advice before day one, what would it be?
Indre:
“Trust the process and don’t compare yourself to anyone else.
Everyone comes into training with different experiences and strengths. Stay curious, ask questions, and remember that growth happens gradually.”
What do you think changed you the most? What’s one thing you’re proud of?
Indre:
“The training helped me become more confident—not because I learned all the answers, but because I became comfortable with continuing to learn and make mistakes.
I’m proud of how much I’ve grown. Instead of trying to teach like someone else, I now teach in a way that feels authentic to me.
I trust my own voice, and I believe that helps me build a more genuine connection with my students.”
Thinking About Taking the Next Step?
Indre’s experience reflects something we hear again and again from our graduates: the 300-hour training is about far more than learning new techniques. It is an opportunity to deepen your practice, refine your teaching, explore yoga philosophy, and discover your own authentic voice as both a teacher and a person.
Whether you’ve recently completed your 200-hour qualification or you’ve been teaching for years, this training offers the space to reconnect with your practice, challenge yourself, and grow with the support of experienced faculty and a like-minded community.
